Place Category: Things To Do, Antigua Beaches, and Beaches West

  • Just a few minutes’ drive past Jolly Harbour you will find Darkwood Beach. This long stretch of picturesque sand is one of the favorite snorkeling spots on the island.

Darkwood is never crowded; in fact many days find it almost deserted. With a beachside bar/restaurant, it’s a great spot for walking, sunning or sitting seaside with a cool drink.

On clear days the volcanic island of Montserrat is visible, with its smoking volcano sending plumes into the air, reminding all of the devastating eruption that buried the city of Plymouth in 1995.

Parking is right off the road, just past the 90-degree left-hand turn.
